Creative Solutions Counselling is a private practice in Vancouver. Colleen Fuller, the therapist, is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, with degrees from UBC (B.A. Psychology) and City University (Masters of Counselling Psychology).
In addition to my academic credentials, I bring a wealth of life experiences. I have spent years working with people in many roles, as a teacher, a parent, a volunteer, a friend and counsellor. I have been happily married for 28 years, and my two children are now young adults who have overcome significant challenges in their own lives, and who make me proud every day.
I find that I develop a new unique blend of therapeutic approaches for each person who consults me. It all starts with a positive connection, a therapeutic relationship that provides a safe and caring place for clients to open up and tell their stories. From there, we start to work toward the client’s goals.
I have several favourite approaches, including Solutions-Focussed and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies. These two are both very powerful and well supported by research. I also use a lot of Narrative, Developmental and Existential tools. One unusual approach many people find very useful and fascinating is to look at Interpersonal Neurobiology- how is the function of the brain impacting your experience, and what can be done about it? All of these are very good tools, and it doesn’t really matter to me which ones we use. What matters is that the approach we choose together suits you, and matches up well with your unique personality and needs to make change possible for you.
I am an optimist by nature, and a creative problem solver. I believe that your situation can get better, and that, together, we can get out of this place of feeling stuck and overwhelmed by life.
Warm Regards,
Colleen
