I would call myself a Counsellor who is a Christian, rather than a Christian Counsellor, because I work with people who have all kinds of belief systems. I am respectful of my client’s beliefs, or their reasons for holding any other views. If you would rather leave spirituality out of the therapy room, I am fine with that.
My education is secular, and based on science. I will use the best evidence-based practices to help you solve your problems.
But if you do believe in God, and you request it, I am happy to bring spiritual issues, prayer and Biblical concepts into our discussion. For me, spiritual and emotional healing are very closely linked, and I am very comfortable with using spiritual formation and discipleship as part of our work together.
